Wireless headset just died...

I got a wireless headset like 2-3 months ago and I haven't had any problems with it at all. Well the other night it was dying to I plugged it in while I watched some TV. I looked at it periodically over a half hour and noticed about a half hour after being plugged in that the lights on the headset weren't flashing anymore. I was confused about this because it's never done that before. I unplugged it and tried to turn it on and nothing... I then tried to plug it back in and still no lights. I want to call M$ and see if I can get another one, but I don't know where my reciept is anymore and I'm not exactly sure how long I've had it for. Is there anything I can do to get another headset without shelling out another $60? Money is tight right now with all the new games coming out and I need to save as much as I can for rent and other things. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
