if its the same system then i will have to say yes, and pray that it actually isnt skrewed up.
Idk...havent seen anything about a ranking system.
no just shoot your shotgun wildly and hope you hit someone like in gears 1.

It's just like Halo or Rainbow Six Vegas, you get the badge thing next to your name showing your level. To me the matchmaking truly does suck. In fact they changed wayyy to much in Gears 2, the game almost feels unrecognizable.
