RROD rate?

Ok for quite awhile i've been deciding if i want an xbox 360 or PS3 i've played them both and there great but the xbox 360 has the higher majority of games i want.Problem is i'm just sceptical on the whole RROD and the rate it occurs, i've heard they have some new chip in the xbox 360 that prevents RROD but i don't know by how much.So i'm stuck in the middle here PS3 or Xbox 360 can anyone shed some light on the Red Ring of Death?RROD rate?
I think it's just pot luck with the 360 to be honest... My brother got an 'elite' and within just a couple months he got the RROD.RROD rate?
Jeez what a pain well better spending my money on something then blowing it on crap all the time, well rest is up to me now time will decide.
Well my xbox is at the repair center right now and its my 8th broken on since it first came out. So I dont know what to tell you, I have all three Xbox 360. Wii, and PS3 and I must say I play my xbox 360 way more, I dont even really bother playing any of my other consoles
I heard with the new ones that the RROD rate has dropped down to 15%. However, that's still pretty damn high, and now I have to worry about other problems, since the video on my 360 crapped out just a few days ago. Get those moving white dots now.
I've had 1 RROD and I've had 360 for 3 years. It sucks that the possibility is there, but I've just got it once.
Almost 3 years and no problems yet!
Man eigth xbox 360 thats crazy. The odds are well odd, some people have better luck then others it seems i just think that i'd be wasting money on a PS3 because there really just aren't enough games that interest me. Xbox 360 is also more convinient for price(not really a problem anyway) but honestly if it lasts me a year i'd be more then happy with that, i've already got a Wii anyway.I don't have an HD tv either but shouldn't be a big of a deal. Thanks guys.
ATTENTION EVERYONE....360's fail and fail often. Hence the reason MS has extended the warranty time 2-3 different times...AND has the RROD LIFE TIME warranty.I have just received my 4th from MS yesturday. My nephew's nearly launch 360 only lasted a year. My friend has been through 3 since launch. Another friend has been through 2.When the UPS man delivered my 360 yesturday, he asked me if it was a 360....I said yea, how you know? He said, my son's went out and had to send it in...I asked if he has a lot of these and he said.....LOTS!!...They stink. They have since launch and will untill the day they quit making them. Regardless if the 360 has good games or not doenst make since to support them to no end. Its crazy thinking like this that makes them win and not care enough to actually fix the dang things...I know a few more people that have been through 2,3,and even 5 360's....Its rediculous and uncalled for. I have preached this since the day I first read about these problems after launch...I wont support MS next gen but im glad they fixed my 360 FREE this time even though it was after warranty ...

I feel though if i buy it i'm probably cheating myself because its pretty appauling that i should have to fully worry if my machine is going to go to waste i mean thats $500(AU people)including all the other stuff, with a PS3 i know i'm safe. The right move would definately be PS3 and honestly i'd rather support Sony then MS because they really need to get there **** together and fix this console it shouldve been done day 1 when they were first reported broken.

I have that other system and even though I can buy games like Fallout 3 and Midnight Club LA on that other system, I'm waiting until I get my 360 back (hopefully soon) before I buy them.
This is my second. A year has passed, so far no problems.
i dont really think it matters what the rate is if your going to spend that much money on something you should get the one you think you are going to have the most fun on and if it does rrod you can always get it repaired its not like its the end of the world
My 360 elite is using the Falcon motherboard.. is it possible for a 360 with the falcon motherboard to get RROD??

Im been thru 4 xbox since launch. Two of them lasted less then 3 months a piece. I've currenlty fixed about 20 of them at my house for extra cash. Thank you MS. Remember the good old days of NES and Sega when systems would work for ever. I've had a N64 since they came out and its still working like a champ. I will say this, the 360 has awesome games because otherwise i would of switched consoles long ago. Their online service i think is the best of any console out today. Atleast if they RROD, you can send it back and appartantly they've become very profishant at fixing them and getting them back to you, my friend just last week got a console back from MS in just a week. So i guess atleast if your 360 does break you won't be without gaming for too long.

They will fix as many times as it needs it. The warranty might even start over after each new/refurbed machine you get back. To verify just call MS.
The 360 is the best gaming system out there with the best online service, don't short change youself by getting anything less.I got mine at launch and have had it in for repair (video problem, not RROD) once, it took about 15 days to get it back.I will be getting a second unit soon, for downloading Netfix movies and loading my most played games onto the hard drive.
